Legacy Shabbat Service
Friday, June 21, 2024 • 15 Sivan 5784
7:30 PM - 9:30 PMSouth Campus Sanctuary
A service celebrating 50 Years of Jewish Life at 6025 Valley Circle Blvd, including Hazzan Mike Stein and the debut of his legacy project, "23 Songs for 23 Years."
Hazzan Stein has released three "unmastered" songs from his upcoming album before this service. Here are the songs and his liner notes:
Or Zarua (Psalm 97)
The psalmist writes, "Light is sown for the righteous and the upright of heart." When I think of light, I think of the surf and sun; nothing gives that feeling better than reggae music. This was written for my Rock Service.
L'cha Dodi
Written for the Reggae Service, this poem by the Shloma Alkabeitz is our official introduction into Shabbat. It reflects great joy and I can see the Kabbalists standing on the hillside of Sfat in their white robes dancing and singing.
With A Great Enduring Love (Ahavat Olam)
Written for my Gospel service this song combines the musical modes of our service and the deep emotion of love that God feels for us.
