Morning Minyan and Fast of the Firstborn Study & Siyyum
Thursday, April 10, 2025 • 12 Nisan 5785
8:00 AM - 10:00 AMSanctuaryBreakfast will immediately follow the study & siyyum.
In gratitude for the first-born Israelites who were spared during the final plague in Egypt, it is a Jewish tradition for first-borns to fast on the day before the first Seder. To mark this observance, many participate in a siyyum—the completion of a Jewish text—allowing them to join in a celebratory meal and be exempt from fasting. While this custom has traditionally applied to first-born males, at Hamakom, we welcome and encourage women to take part as well. The morning will conclude with a communal breakfast.
