Michael Cantor

Michael Cantor, Hamakom's Executive Director, has been involved in Jewish Communal Leadership for over twenty years. Prior to joining Hamakom, he served as Executive Director for Temple Isaiah in West Los Angeles, Temple Emanuel of Newton, Massachusetts, and Nessah Synagogue in Beverly Hills.

Born and raised in South Africa, Michael has studied, worked, and traveled on five continents. In addition to his undergraduate work, he earned an MSt in Jewish Studies and Biblical Hebrew from the University of Oxford and an MBAX from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.

He is an amateur mechanic with an appreciation for classic cars, a music aficionado, and a big fan of board games—scrabble is a favorite! Michael enjoys learning languages and taking advantage of the warm climate in his hometown of Los Angeles, playing beach volleyball and cycling with his wife and children.
