Why The Yellow Candle?
The candle is yellow to remind us of the Yellow Star that Jews were forced to wear to identify as Jews and open themselves to ridicule and persecution. On the night of Yom HaShoah, the candles are lit in homes around the globe to shine a light of memory, a light of education, and a light so we will never forget the atrocities of the Holocaust. By participating in this program, you are helping to keep the memory of the Shoah alive and to recall what happens when good people do not stand up to bigotry and hate.
In making a donation to the Yellow Candle Campaign, you are honoring the memory of the Six Million.
Proceeds from the Yellow Candle Campaign are used to support this program and Hamakom youth programs.
